Bush Backpack

I have made a backpack that you will need for going into a bush just in case.

Bush Survival.

S.t.o.p.

  • Stop, Think, Observe and Plan.
  • Stop is a survival mind exercise for your brain.
Finding fresh water.

  • You can make a well that is 1 foot tall and 1 foot deep in a dried-up river that is still damp
or trees and other plants that are alive and boil it by fire.
  • If your near a river grab a bottle or something that can hold the water, boil it over a fire.
  • Put a container outside and leave for a couple of days and you get some water boil it just in case if any bacteria went in it.
Shelter

  • You can Build it on hard solid ground so your shelter doesn't fly away.
  • Build it on Flat ground so no cold breeze can get under the crack from the hill.
  • Build it on higher ground so predators can't get you up high or in case if there was a flood nearby.
Fire

  • You can use sticks and twigs for the fire so it can burn for a fire you would need oxygen heat and fuel to keep it burning for oxygen you can use your breath to keep it on when it is going out fuel is for keeping it on and burning which is paper twigs our sticks make sure it is dry put water around the hole you have dug but the outside of it so when it sparks it will not
  • burn the grass or anything that can burn.
  • If you rub 2 rocks together it can make a fire if you don't have any matches make sure you do it fast and breath for oxygen for the fire.
  • Have water just in case when its an emergency.
Basic first aid
  • If you get cut then you can use leaves that are clean to patch up the wound.
  • Use pressure on cuts when bleeding to stop you bleeding out.
  • If you get bitten by a snake then don’t cut at or around the bite.

Signaling For Help

  • Signal using smoke and fire, you will 3 fires in the shape of a triangle and they will need to be 100 feet apart.
  • If you have a mirror or glass try to reflect light up onto your target (maybe someone flying around in the helicopter above you) and try to get their attention.
  • Scream as loud as you can when a plane or something is near you and wave your hands so they know where you are.

Clove Hitch

For my third knot, I did the Clove hitch for the first go it was so hard and for my second go it was still not right so I asked someone to help me it was Joile she helps me a lot with the clove hitch. So I give it a 4/5 for the difficulty level.

You can use the Clove Hitch for when you go camping you can use two trees and do the clove hitch on both sides around the tree so it can be a washing line.

Figure 8 Knot

For my second knot, I did the figure 8 Knot my friend Asha helped me how to do it becasue I had no idea how to do it for the first step is to make a circle and then at the bottom make I made a small circle and I used the bottom rope and put it on top of the top circle and put it under and I had a figure 8 knot. The difficulty level is 3/5.

The figure 8 knot is a non slip knot and it is used for mountain climbing. The difficulty level is 3/5.

Chapter Chat Week 5 Term 4 Fantastic Favorite

 Fantastic Favorite

For this week I did Creation Station, for my
Fantastic Favorite, for the circle I used a jar and I traced around it for a perfect circle, but the bottom of the jar was a bit bumpy so I used the top of the jar so it can be perfect. I colored it in I add some highlight made out of gel pens so it can sparkle also. I add the Olympics logo at the back of the medal and I used some blue, and red ribbon for the strap.

The difficulty level is 2/5 for the Reef Knot.

The Reef Knot can be used for tying two things together near each other. For the difficulty level out of 5 is 2/5 for the Reef Knot.

Survival building

The thing I enjoyed the most was building a tent becasue I can get more experience building it. What I hated the most was being out in the sun for a long period of time after that I was very sweaty from being outside for a long time. For the first task, I all we had was just two things a tarp and a long piece of rope we have to tie each end of the rope to a tree near each other we put the rope through some holes on the tarp.

Survival 2

Build A Shelter!

The two types of shelters we chose were:
1.Simple Tarp Shelter
2.Dug out shelter

We chose the simple tarp shelter
because when hiking tarp is very light and
won’t hold you back to much.
We also chose it because you can feel close to
nature when you are in it.

We chose the dug out shelter because
all you need is just a knife to cut the branches
into the right side and a shovel to use the dirt for
it and it will be nice and damp on hot days.

We think that simple tarp shelter would
be good for a tent because it is light to carry and would
be easy to travel with.

We think that dug out shelter would be good
for a tent because all you need is two things
which is a shovel and a knife

Pros for the simple tarp shelter are that
you can connect with nature when sleeping.
Also tarp is hard to damage so you can get multiple uses out of it.

Pros for the dug out shelter are that you need
only need two things for it which is a knife and a shovel

Cons for the simple tarp shelter are it’s only tarp
so it might get cold when you are sleeping.
Also it’s plastic so it’s bad for the environment.

Cons for the dugout shelter is that you need to dig for dirt.

Our favourite part about simple tarp
shelter is that it’s hard to break and can be used multiple times.

Our favourite part about dug out shelter is it
camouflages with the ground.

Our least favourite part about simple tarp shelter
is that tarp is made out of a plastic material

which is bad for the environment and can pollute
the oceans in you leave it there. But we can stop
this by not leaving your tarp there and picking
it up and using it multiple times.

Our least favourite part about dug out shelter is
that it’s made and covered in dirt.

One thing we would add to the simple tarp shelter
is the heat storage. We would make the shelter warmer.
We would do this by adding padding and installation to tarp.
If you do this then tarp might not be as waterproof.

One thing we would add to the dug out shelter is hygiene.

One thing we would get rid of in the simple
tarp shelter is the amount of plastic in the material.

One thing we would get rid of in the dug out
shelter is the dirt around it because it would stink.

Where would you build simple tarp shelter is
in a forest where there is lots of trees.

Where would you build dug out shelter is in a
forest where the dirt will camouflage

Things you need to make the simple tarp shelter
are tarp, rope and rocks/stones/nails to hold the tarp down and poles.

Things you need to make dug out shelter is dirt, rope,
branches and leaves.

Things you need to think about before making a
simple tarp shelter is if you have all the things to make it.

Things you need to think about before making a
dug out shelter is if you have enough materials to make it.

Survival

The best place is of ground so the wind will keep the bugs away and so it will be easier to see a search party chose a spot that is sheltered by trees.

It needs to keep you safe from bad weather even the sun rain and snow and predators.

You will need a knife to cut long branches leaves to cover your shelter and long branches for the base.

Pro thinks it is very fast to build a shelter con thinks it will be hard to make a fire in the shelter.
